(De Pere, Wis.) - St. Norbert College took a big step toward claiming the Midwest Conference women's basketball regular season championship with a 75-62 victory over Carroll University.

The Pioneers gave the hosts all they could handle in the first half and at one point led by as many as seven points. The Green Knights would eventually claw their way back into the game and took a 30-28 lead into the break.

Carroll scored the opening basket of the second half to even the score at 30-30 but St. Norbert responded with a 9-0 run to grab control of the game. The Green Knights would extend to as much as a 16 point lead at 54-38 with 11:22 to play.

The Pioneers rallied to within eight points later in the half but could get no closer.

Malory Christenson led CU with 23 points while Breann Maryanski added 22 points.

The Pioneers were held to 34.4% shooting from the field while St. Norbert connected on 55.6% of its shots.

Carroll falls to 13-5 overall, 10-3 in the Midwest Conference. League-leading St. Norbert improves to 15-3 overall, 12-1 in league play.
