This is an exciting opportunity for a responsible, outgoing individual to serve as the cashier for the Bay County Shooting Range for the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission.

This is a part-time Other Personal Service (OPS) position with limited benefits.

 

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Receive payment by cash, check, credit cards, vouchers, or automatic debits.
  • Issue receipts and change due to customers.
  • Count money in cash drawers at the beginning of shifts to ensure that amounts are correct and that there is adequate change.
  • Greet customers entering establishments.
  • Answering telephone and handling customer questions; taking messages.
  • Inform customers of range rules and acquire release of liability.
  • Entering customers who have completed liability releases into customer database.
  • Maintain clean and orderly Proshop, checkout area and restrooms including the daily cleaning of the restrooms and vacuuming Proshop.
  • Resolve customer complaints.
  • Answer customers' questions, and provide information on procedures or policies.
  • Calculate total payments received during a time period, and reconcile this with total sales.
  • Compute and record totals of transactions.
  • Sell range passes and other items to customers.
  • Receive inventory, verify purchases, process invoices and forward for payment.
  • Stock shelves, and mark prices on shelves and items.
  • Compile and maintain non-monetary reports and records for vehicles, etc. and forward for processing.

 

Knowledge Skills and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of operation of point of sale systems
  • Knowledge firearms, archery equipment, hunting and the shooting sports
  • Skill in using a computer for conducting business
  • Skill in effective verbal and written communication
  • Skill in using e-mail, listserv, Facebook, twitter
  • Ability to be a team player and work integrally with various stakeholders, government agencies and other FWC Divisions changing priorities with frequent interruptions
  • Presents a positive image of the section and the agency by courteously working with the public.
  • Performs additional duties on an as needed basis

 

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

High School Diploma with a minimum two years experience in retail sales or the service industry.
