Battle for the Paddle Highlights Busy Home Weekend for Marauders Athletics

Game sponsor Dakota Community Bank & Trust providing complimentary tickets to football game

BISMARCK, N.D. – After two straight winning weeks on the road, the University of Mary football team returns home for the Battle for the Paddle. The Marauders host MSU Moorhead on Saturday, Oct. 25. Sponsored by Dakota Community Bank & Trust, kickoff is set for 1 p.m. at the MDU Resources Community Bowl.
 
This is also a home weekend for Marauders volleyball and the men's and women's cross country teams.
 
Dakota Community Bank & Trust is the Battle for the Paddle football game sponsor. Complimentary tickets for the Marauders-Dragons contest are available at local Dakota Community Bank & Trust locations.
 
The week gets rolling with the Marauders Coaches Luncheon on Friday, Oct. 24, at the Elks. Lunch is served starting around 11:45 a.m. with the program beginning at noon. U-Mary athletic director Roger Thomas will host the luncheon and Marauders football head coach Josh Kotelnicki is among the featured speakers. The cost is $5.
 
Weekend home athletic events begin on Friday with the Mike Thorson Invitational cross country meet at the Riverwood Golf Course. The men's race starts at 4 p.m. and the women run at 4:45 p.m.
 
The day closes out with Marauders volleyball hosting the University of Minnesota Crookston at the McDowell Activity Center. The Northern Sun match starts at 7 p.m.
 
Saturday starts with tailgating in the parking lot of the MDU Resources Community Bowl. Sponsored by Cloverdale, tailgating kicks off at 10:30 a.m. and runs to 12:45 p.m. Cloverdale will provide complimentary food to the first 300 fans or until supplies are exhausted.
 
The Marauders football team will arrive in the tailgating section and make their way into the stadium through the pep band and the fans at 11 a.m.
 
Game time for the Marauders-Dragons football game is set for 1:05 p.m.
 
The Marauders athletic department Make-A-Wish campaign also begins on Saturday and U-Mary student-athletes will circulate the crowd to accept donations.
 
A busy home weekend concludes with Alumni Night for Marauders volleyball as U-Mary faces Bemidji State University at 6 p.m. at the McDowell Activity Center. All former players in attendance at the game will be honored.
 
Game tickets are available at the gate for both football and volleyball. Adult tickets are $10 while seniors (ages 60+), college students and youth 18 years old and younger are $4. U-Mary students with their M-card and children 5 and under are free.
