A total of 73 student-athletes recognized for academic and athletics success

2014-15 Winter Academic All-MAC Teams

ANNVILLE, Pa. (Academic News) –
The Middle Atlantic Conference Executive Director Ken Andrews announced the 2014-15 Winter Academic All-MAC Teams on Thursday. A total of 73 student-athletes who competed in men’s and women’s basketball, men’s and women’s indoor track & field, men’s and women’s swimming and wrestling were recognized.

“These recipients represent the true meaning of a student-athlete,” said Executive Director Andrews. “This is one of the top conference awards we give out each season. It honors our student-athletes who excel both in the classroom and on the playing field.”

There are a total of seven Winter Academic All-MAC teams that recognized the top student-athletes in men’s and women’s basketball, men’s and women’s indoor track & field, men’s and women’s swimming and wrestling. The MAC sports information directors nominate and vote for the Academic All-MAC teams, giving 50 percent weight on both academic success and athletic success.

Earning a spot on the Men’s Basketball Academic All-MAC Team were: Joe Brown (Arcadia), Travis Bryan (DeSales), Chris Cook (Hood), Rich Douglas (King’s), David Fernandez (Messiah), Davon Hill (Hood), Zac Hoy (Messiah), Brian Laird (DeSales), Dan Rutecki (King’s) and Alec Wizar (Wilkes).

Named to the Women’s Basketball Academic All-MAC Team were: Eireann Anastasi (Delaware Valley), Alyson Caiazzo (Manhattanville), Kayla Feairheller (King’s), Ally Ferrucci (Widener), Gillian Glackin (Messiah), Meghan Nowak (Eastern), Lauren Smicherko (Misericordia), Elena Stambone (Wilkes), Sara Tarbert (Stevenson), Taylor Umbrell (Lebanon Valley) and Kaitlyn Yoh (Alvernia).

The Men’s Indoor Track & Field Academic All-MAC Team selections were: Edward Cadman (Alvernia), Gavin Colley (Widener), Drew Engle (Messiah), Chris Garrity (Widener), Andrew Goelz (Lebanon Valley), Michael Harnish (Lebanon Valley), Tim Moses (Messiah), Cory Poepperling (Misericordia), Trevor Stutzman (Messiah) and Tyler Williams (Widener).

Named to the Women’s Indoor Track & Field Academic All-MAC Team were: Cynthia Adams (Lebanon Valley), Bianca Bolton (Misericordia), Amber Char (Widener), Michelle Churchman (DeSales), Marie Johnson (Messiah), Alyssa Keich (Lebanon Valley), Bethany Killmon (Misericordia), Alyssa Mills (Messiah), Kelsey Patrick (Lebanon Valley), Heather Silveira (Hood), Amy Viti (Misericordia) and Sarah Wigg (Misericordia).

The Men’s Swimming Academic All-MAC Team selections were: Trevor Endler (Lycoming), Alex Ganguzza (Arcadia), Ian Gaynor (Widener), T.J. Guminski (Lycoming), Jeff Mastrantunono (Wilkes), Chris Panagacos (Misericordia), Ken Richardson (Albright), Cameron Rogers (Hood), Thomas Scott (Misericordia) and Brad Thomas (Misericordia).

Earning a spot  on the Women’s Swimming Academic All-MAC Team were: Whitney Boeckel (Arcadia), Dani Blass (Misericordia), Macawley Brown (King’s), Caitlin Fay (Hood), Lauren Fogarty (Hood), Alexia Follweiler (Lycoming), Tara Freeman (Messiah), Amanda Osterlind (Albright), Emily Reale (Messiah) and Hayley Rogers (Hood).

Named to the Wrestling Academic All-MAC Team were: Nolan Barger (Lycoming), Sam Batchelor (Lycoming), Zach Britton (Lycoming), Nick Dawson (Wilkes), Skyler Ebner (Lycoming), Alec Horan (Delaware Valley), Ben Schweiger (Delaware Valley), Keith Wanamaker (King’s) and Caleby Willey (Lycoming).
