Completely Meat-Free Restaurant Heads to Austin

Citizen Eatery vows to serve no meat when it takes over 416 Bar & Grille’s shuttered space on Burnet Road this fall. Owner Michael Moyer told Community Impact the casual restaurant will focus on veggie burgers, among other vegetarian, vegan, and paleo-friendly dishes.

Much like its predecessor, Citizen’s breakfast will be served all day long. There will also be a full bar serving what it calls "Citizen Smart" liquors.

The restaurant is currently hiring staff. Once open, hours will be from 8 a.m. to 9 a.m. Sunday through Thursday, and until 10 p.m. Friday to Saturday.

416 closed down in mid-July when owners, chefs, and family members John and Colin Jurey sold the restaurant, after running for one and a half years.

Similarly, the vegan gastropub The Beer Plant is opening sometime before the end of this year.
