MTV's 'Scream' renewed for season 2

MTV has renewed Scream for a second season, the network announced at the Television Critics Association’s summer press tour.

The high school-set series follows a slew of not-yet-slain students who start to get picked off one-by-one after a cyber bullying incident. Still alive: Shy popular girl Emma (Willa Fitzgerald), artsy loner Audrey (Bex Taylor-Klaus), computer geek Noah (John Karna), all-American athlete Will (Connor Weil), ferocious socialite Brooke (Carlson Young), and mysterious new kid Kieran (Amadeus Serafini).

Unlike fellow genre fare American Horror Story, Scream will not be an anthology series, but continue the story of these characters in season 2—the ones that are still alive, that is.

The network’s adaptation of the hit movie franchise — though the show’s storyline is as yet unconnected to Woodsboro—debuted earlier this month to 1.03 million viewers and a 0.5 in the 18-49 demographic.

“It has been a wonderful experience working with Bob Weinstein and his team, who are such connoisseurs of this genre and we are thrilled by how our viewers have responded to the reinvention of Scream,” said MTV’s Mina Lefevre. “We look forward to another season filled with suspense, horror and more twists and turns.”

Hopefully this means we’ll discover who the killer is by the season finale, though the series possibly revealed a big clue as to his or her identity on Tuesday night. Read all about it here.
