It's National Farmers Market Week!

A  Last  Word

Dear Neighbors,

Not only did farmers markets get recognized with their own postage stamps last year (that's them, just above), but this year, as the number of markets nation wide tops 8,000, we've got National Farmers Market Week to celebrate, starting this Sunday.

This season, we have nearly 40 farmers selling crops and products at our Market, a big jump from the nine who were with us when the Chamber took over operations in 2007!  Since then we've seen a lot of success in bringing rural and urban Americans together, in job creation through support of small scale farming in the country and the City, in educating people about where their food comes from and how it's grown, and bringing positive attention to Logan Square, its businesses and institutions.

And did I mention that the Market is just a nice place to meet the neighbors and hang out?  So, let's do a little low-key celebrating. I'll see you at the Market!
