  • July 2, 1979 – The Susan B. Anthony dollar is released. 
  • July 2, 1937 – Amelia Earhart’s plane is lost in the Pacific Ocean near Howland Island. 
  • July 2, 1964 – President Lyndon Johnson signs the Civil Rights Act; Title VII prohibits sex discrimination in employment.  
  • July 4, 1876 – Suffragists crash the Centennial Celebration in Independence Hall to present the Vice President with the “Declaration of the Rights of Women” written by Matilda Joselyn Gage.

Join the Body rEvolution!

Body image issues and eating disorders disproportionately affect college-age students. Body rEvolution is a dynamic, interactive internship coordinated by the Women's Center and the Counseling & Testing Center. Body rEvolution aims to get students talking about body image, the media's influence, and potential outcomes and impacts for their health and well-being. Participate in Body rEvolution in Fall 2015, earn 1 credit of SOC 498 or WMST 498, and gain valuable presenting and peer education skills! Work at the Women's Center!
Join the Women's Center for the 2015-2016 academic year for an exciting work-study position! We currently have six work-study positions open including a Social Media and Outreach Assistant, Women's Center Office Assistant, Diversity and Inclusion Program Assistant, Women's Center Events & Programming Assistant, Graphic Design Assistant, and Sexual Assault Program Assistant. Vandal Food Pantry in Need of Donations
The Vandal Food Pantry's shelves are almost empty! We need your help to re-stock for the new academic year. We are seeking donations of any shelf-stable foods, but especially:
  • Canned fruit
  • Cereal
  • Oatmeal
  • Snack items (granola bars, fruit snacks)
  • Pasta with pasta sauce
  • Soup
  • Chili
  • Canned meats (chicken, tuna)
  • Peanut butter and jelly
  • Instant meals (e.g., potatoes, "Just Add Water" type meals)

Volunteers needed for Great Moscow Food Drive
The Latah County Human Rights Task Force and the Moscow Human Rights Commission have a need for volunteers to staff tables at the Great Moscow Food Drive, to be held Saturday, August 1 at the Farmer's Market, Safeway, and Rosauers. WSU now hiring an AmeriCorps VISTA position
WSU is now hiring for a full-time AmeriCorps VISTA position to start August 2015. In conjunction with WSU’s Cougar Money Management Program and TRiO Student Support Services, WSU is seeking a motivated college graduate who is interested in developing  financial literacy tools and resources as a WSU Cougar Financial Literacy Project (CFLP) Coordinator. This person will develop a peer-to-peer mentor program, improving existing financial literacy tools and resources for use by first-generation, low-income WSU students. Benefits include: living allowance, and if moving from out of area, a relocation allowance; training; childcare assistance if eligible; and choice of education award or end-of-service stipend.
