Coronation Street is heating up tonight – and, as you’d expect, Pat Phelan is orchestrating it all as disaster strikes in the form of a blaze. Phelan’s puppet Andy Carver is forced into torching Kevin Webster’s garage and as Kevin watches his beloved business go up in smoke, his nightmare is only just beginning.
Cunning Phelan hits upon the drastic plan after realising that Kev’s laptop contains the CCTV footage of his and Todd Grimshaw’s incriminating chat about the scam they were involved in. Realising that this could be his undoing, Phelan spikes Kev’s drinks and gets him drunk while Andy is blackmailed into setting fire to the premises.
Meanwhile, Tracy Barlow is mortified that the CCTV could contain some footage of her and she and Luke Britton rush to the scene as Andy puts the plan into action. Phelan, at the same time, has put a groggy Kevin into his van to sleep which means it’s not going to look good for the mechanic when the investigation commences.
As Brian Packham spots the flames, Kev comes round and watches in horror as the garage is devastated by the fire. And it’s just the catalyst for a whole new nightmare as the police soon suspect an insurance job.
Things aren’t great for Phelan either as Andy has swiped the laptop and discovers what Phelan was trying to destroy. As Andy sets a plan to ensure Phelan finally pays, he is taking his life in his hands.
Coronation Street airs these fire scenes at 7:30pm and 8:30pm on ITV on Monday 16th January.
