Support the passage of the NHS Reinstatement Bill
Support the passage of the NHS Reinstatement Bill
Why this petition matters
The NHS risks increasing fragmentation, bureaucracy and privatisation as long as it suffers the effects of the Health & Social Care Act 2012.
The NHS Reinstatement Bill would reverse these changes and restore the NHS. It was previously presented at the close of parliament as a cross-party Bill by Green MP Caroline Lucas, with the support of Lib Dem, SNP, Plaid and Labour backbenchers. (It should not be confused with the weaker Efford Bill.) It has now been presented again under similar conditions, with additional support from Labour's Jeremy Corbyn as well as the British Medical Association.
We, the undersigned, demand that the NHS Reinstatement Bill be supported in its passage through Parliament and given sufficient utilities to allow it to pass unhindered into law. There must be no talking out, no stalling at the committee stage, no wrecking amendments, and no promises of a Bill 'at a later date'. We require immediate action on the part of the UK government to protect our NHS.
The Bill benefits from the support of Keep Our NHS Public, 999 Call for the NHS, Open Democracy, the Green Party, the National Health Action Party and numerous others. It is a genuine NHS campaigner's Bill.
