#CalExit is now a Comic Book!
Surely, the villain’s resemblance to President Trump is purely coincidental.
Now, #CalExit is more than just a proposed ballot measure…it is a comic book aimed at the safety pin set!
The new comic book series from Black Mask Studios portrays California leading the resistance against America’s Commander-in-Chief.
It’s about that hope and inclusion and also the challenges of finding solidarity among a diverse group but figuring it out and supporting one another,” says [#Calexit creator Matteo] Pizzolo.
“Even if California split off, we’d still need to work together across cultural and political lines, probably even moreso. We’re not going to solve the problems we face alone. There’s a darkness to the situation and the world, but it’s a story of hope.”
The premise of the series is based an a heady mixture of fantasy, delusion, and fake news.
What if a fascist, autocratic President took over the United States? And what if that President lost California, the sixth largest economy on Earth, by nearly 2-to-1…a margin of almost 3 1/2 million votes?
What if the day after that President took power, the largest mass demonstration in history occurred, and the state with the largest turnout was California. And then, the following week, two of the largest international airports in the world, California’s LAX and SFO, were blockaded by protesters? What if California refused to be ruled?
…In CALEXIT, the citizens of California will struggle to seize power back from an autocratic government. The ongoing series tells the story of Jamil, a 25-year old courier (aka smuggler), and Zora, a 27-year old leader in the Pacific Coast Sister Cities Resistance, who escape together from a prison camp in Occupied Los Angeles, where martial law has been in place for the past year — ever since America’s demagogue President signed an executive order to deport all immigrants, and California responded by proclaiming itself a Sanctuary State.
Each issue of CALEXIT will also include non-fiction material about local sustainability and grassroots campaigning for 2018 elections.
The first issue will be out in May of this year, though no word is available on if it can be ordered on our convenient Amazon link. I am sure Legal Insurrection readers will want to own their own copy.
In a nutshell, the hero is “The Resistance”. The villain? A fascist who lost the popular vote in California. I am sure any resemblance to President Donald J. Trump is purely coincidental.

I’d vote to let them go. Within the year they’d be killing each other off over unfunded pensions.
Within a month, the dead would begin to pile up in the streets due to lack of water. *Mexico* would put up a wall. LA is a desert. Unfunded pensions would be the last thing they would have to worry about.

I’m in favor of letting the northern part of California form its own state of Jefferson, and then letting California, Washington and Oregon seceding peacefully. and New York if they want it.
Here’s an article about someone who’s given this thought. I like his idea of a treaty between California and the U.S.A. about the U.S.A. leasing military bases from California. Other than that, let’s build a wall between us.

I’m all for it. Tired of the constant caterwauling. if they had their own country, we could make sure we could live in peace and quiet for a change. Exile people like Bill Ayers there.
Let them vote. Those counties who want to be part of the Peoples’ Democratic Republic of Alta California can go, with the exception of San Diego County. That is ours and I don’t think the Pajama Boys have the means to take it from the Marines and Navy. It is a reasonable approximation, for now, to assume that the counties Trump won in November will vote against secession. As I say, an approximation.
That leaves a situation like Virginia and West Virginia in 1861 [Wheeling Conventions] and 1863 [admission to the Union]. Depending on exactly which counties vote against secession, I could see the formation of a State of Jefferson in the north, a State of Madison in the east central area, and a State of Reagan in the South.
The PDRAC, if the secession is not accepted by the US, will be in a state of rebellion and that is a cassus belli. Aside from seizure of any assets that can be found, removal from access to the US banking system, and any military action; a complete blockade of air, ground, and sea traffic would be justified. That would include power, water, and food. After 3 days, best case, Los Angeles runs out of food. 3 hours for water. Instantly for power. A foreign country attempting to run the blockade would be committing an act of war against the US, and I don’t think China wants to play that game.
If the US accepts the secession, all their power and water and food come from areas under US control. In the absence of trade agreements, the PDRAC cannot buy, and probably will not be able to afford.
Any Federal contractor based suddenly in a hostile foreign nation will lose their contracts, so they will be running for the border. Any company wanting to sell their goods in the US will be dealt with as a foreign company and tariffs will apply. They will also leave.
I don’t see a downside either way.
If they want to leave peacefully, I say let them go. As long as they leave behind the parts of the state that do not want to go.
You know who I think will fight the hardest for them to stay. Members of the nonCalifornia Democratic party, who will then be in a severe minority status for a long time.
San Diego county is purple. The northern half is reddish, the southern half is blueish. There may or may not be the votes to stay in the Union. Even the reddist part of SD county is only about 48% Republican.
Cool. This could be a classic; right up there with Hansi—The Girl Who Loved the Swastika [Spire Christian Comics, 1976].

I think CalExit is an absurdist, shock rebound response to two events:
1) Brexit, the idea of independence from a greater, suffocating government entity, and…
2) the shocking (to CA separatists) election of Trump over Clinton when she’d won California by millions of votes.
As certain it is that CA would fail as an independent state, and as the separatists are ignoring all reason, this sucker is a symptom, not a disease. This is driven by emotion. Logic, reason, and intelligence remain over time, while emotions are always time-limited and often fleeting. This will die a slow media death.
Shucks! If they secede, then implode, their airs of superiority will disappear.

Regarding that “popular vote”;
Hillary won CA by about 4.3m votes.
Including CA she only won nationally by about 2.8m votes.
This means that she lost the rest of the country by about 1.5m votes.
Make her President of CA.
I bet some conservative is backing this comic book and making money off the lefties buying it!
Residents of Oroville should be pushing an #AltCalExit.
Gather other red areas whose not getting the infrastructure care they should be and leave California to start their own state. Then let the rest leave the union.

Although the precedent is set on not letting them go, burning their cities and then taking away most of their rights for a few decades as was done to the South, I’m for letting them go as soon as they pay their population share, including illegals, of the national debt–in shares of tech stocks of course.
Unless there was redistricting of the rest of the US, no dem would ever carry the electoral college ever again w/out California.
