The children’t nursery rhyme “London Bridge Is Falling Down” takes on ominous notes in the first teaser for “London Has Fallen” — the sequel to 2013’s “Olympus Has Fallen.”
Destruction abounds in the trailer from Lionsgate U.K., as historic London landmarks are blown to smithereens.
Gerard Butler and Aaron Eckhart return for the second installment. Secret Service head Mike Banning (Butler) and U.S. President Benjamin Asher (Eckhart) are in England’s capital for the British prime minister’s funeral when terrorist attacks take aim at all the world leaders in town.
Morgan Freeman, Angela Bassett and Melissa Leo will also reprise their roles from the original film, directed by Babak Najafi. Creighton Rothenberger, Katrin Benedikt and Chad St. John wrote the screenplay.
“London Has Fallen” hits theaters on January 22, 2016.
