Matranga Named RSU Golf Assistant Coach

CLAREMORE, Okla. – Rogers State Head Men's and Women's Golf Coach Josh Fosdick announced the hiring of former professional golfer, Catherine Matranga, as assistant coach prior to the start of the 2015-16 season.

"Catherine is going to be a great addition to our men's and women's golf programs," Fosdick said. "Her years of experience playing professionally and high-level collegiate golf are going to provide her with a unique platform to speak to our players. She will be highly influential on both programs and I'm looking forward to her getting on campus!"

Matranga comes to the Hill bearing an impressive resume of golf experience having been a participant in the U.S. Women's Open in 2013. She spent seven years playing on the LPGA Symetra Tour following a standout, four-year career at nationally-ranked NCAA Division I Texas Christian University. With the Horned Frogs, she recorded 13 top-10 finishes while earning NCAA Honorable Mention All-America honors as a senior in 2007. She also was named to the Mountain West All-Conference team and selected as Golfer of the Month by the league.

The Fort Worth, Texas native spent the last four years working at Ridglea Country Club in her hometown as the Assistant Golf Professional. While there, she helped organize and run tournaments, junior camps and clinics, and teaching individual lessons. Matranga graduated from TCU in 2007 with a Bachelor of Science majoring in Communications and minoring in Secondary Education.

The Hillcats begin the fall season Sept. 7-8 in Pueblo, Colorado at the Farmers Insurance Samuel Proal Invitational hosted by Colorado State-Pueblo.
