Dave's Road to Recovery

Donation protected
Dave Burke is a loving husband, a father of 3,  and grandfather.  Most recently he became a grandfather to twin boys born 6 weeks early. He works hard at two great companies. Dynamic Architectural Windows and Doors in Abbotsford and the new Cabelas in Abbotsford.
He volunteers his time at the local Rod & Gun Club and is the first to help with a move.

Dave also recently lost his own father to Cancer.

On August 5, 2016 his wife Lori, who I call my sister, and has been my friend for over 38 years, came home from a movie only to find the man she has loved since she was 16 years old, suffering from a massive stroke.
Dave was 48 years old, in excellent health, extremely active and a non-smoker. Nothing could have prepared them for this.

In total, Dave had 4 strokes, including one in the ambulance on the way to the hospital.

Lori is not one to ask for help and has a hard time accepting it. However, in light of these circumstances I would like to be able to offer their family some respite from the financial worries that now plague them , and allow Lori the time to spend with Dave during his long and intense road to recovery, as well as the time she needs for herself.

Lori is a full time university student and works on-call several days during the week.  She volunteers endlessly in her community and is the first person to offer help to anyone in need.  This time it is her that needs the help.

With Dave having been working two jobs to support his family, and Lori finishing up her schooling, the loss of his incomes is devastating.

Currently Dave is unable to talk, or walk and needs help  with virtually every day to day task.

Any money raised here will help to facilitate moving the family into affordable housing, as well as cover the costs for the special equipment that will be imperative to Dave's recovery.  A wheelchair, walker, and specialized text-to-speech programs for the computer will enable Dave to re-learn words, pronunciations and meanings.  He will need an ankle support for when he learns to walk again, and a specialized foot brace to prevent "foot drop"

Because Dave has such incredible support and is a very healthy, active and young man, we have great hopes for recovery, however it will be long, arduous and not easy.

Please help us to help Lori & Dave relieve the financial burden so that they can focus on getting him home.

Thank you all for your well wishes and we will continue to keep you updated on Dave's progress.
