As the capital of Zambia, Lusaka is one of the fastest developing cities in Southern Africa both economically and culturally. Because of its complex history and central location, Lusaka has emerged as a melting pot of traditional and modern African culture. In response, Lusaka’s culinary scene is rapidly expanding – from small creative cafes to large fine-dining restaurants, here are our top ten restaurants in Lusaka.

Located in the Arcades Shopping Center, the Mint Lounge brings international cuisine to Lusaka. Diners can enjoy tantalizing dishes in the cozy and stylish dining room or in the outdoor courtyard. Highlights from the menu include Mexican-style tortilla wraps, freshly made sandwiches, Malawi shandy, and prawn risotto. Sunday afternoons are also popular at the Sugarbush Café as there is a special roast rump of beef that is served with a Yorkshire pudding. The Four Seasons Bistro guarantees that none of their ingredients are genetically modified – nothing is canned or tinned, and everything that comes from the kitchen can be traced back to its roots. When ingredients cannot be produced in Zambia, such as spices, they are obtained from local farmers at markets. The menu is small but full of flavor, with an overall European theme. There are weekly specials and new dishes with every season. Dishes include tilapia fish cakes with a tartar dip, grilled skin-on pork chop with grilled tomato and baked onion, and grilled slices of smoked pork with pineapple salsa.

Promising a great dining experience for all who walk through the door, Eviva is run by husband and wife Akis and Eleni. The restaurant is divided into different areas, each suited to different occasions, including a terrace, bar and large dining room. The menu has a Greek twist to it, with starters of mezze-style plates and seafood available. There is also a fresh sushi bar, as well as salads and soups. A popular choice is the halloumi strawberry starter, which was created as an experiment by head chef George. It was loved by the locals for its contrasting savory and sweet flavors, and has become a permanent fixture on the menu. Other highlights include fillet steaks, which are grilled to order, and the red snapper, which is cooked over red coals. Desserts include the crème brûlée and a rich chocolate mousse.
