UPDATE: Father, son dead after double fatal car accident

UPDATE 10/19/16 @ 2 p.m.

LAWRENCE COUNTY, Ky. (WSAZ) -- The names of two people killed in a double fatal car accident have been released.

Family members tell WSAZ Vernal Wiley Sr., 58, better known as Ray and his son Justin Wiley, 30, both of Inez, have died.

The PT Cruiser they were in failed to yield at a right-of-way and collided with a Kenworth truck at the intersection of Ky. Route 645 and U.S. 23 in the Lowmansville area, according to a release by the Lawrence County Sheriff's Department.

Both Ray and Justin died at the scene.

The driver of the truck was taken to the hospital as a precaution.

The collision is under investigation by the Lawrence County Sheriff's Office.

The accident happened around 6:30 a.m. Wednesday.

According to Lawrence County Emergency Management, the crash involved a passenger car and truck.

Two people inside the car died.

The driver of the truck was taken to the hospital as a precaution.

LAWRENCE COUNTY, Ky. (WSAZ) -- A double fatal accident has the intersection of US 23 and 645 shut down in the Lowmansville area.

The accident happened around 6:30 a.m. Wednesday.

According to Lawrence County Emergency Management, the crash involved a passenger car and truck.

Two people inside the car died.

The driver of the truck was taken to the hospital. The extent of their injuries isn't known.

Crews say the roadway will be periodically closed throughout the morning while they investigate.

WSAZ has a crew headed to the scene.
