มีคลิปและหลักฐานที่บ่งบอกว่า ผู้ต้องหามีการนัดเเนะเพื่อน และก็พกอาวุธอันตรายมาด้วยเพื่อก่อเหตุ มีการทำร้ายชายพิการตะโกนบอกว่า "ฆ่ามัน เอามันให้ตาย" ถ้าใครตามข่าวก็จะรู้ว่าพฤติกรรมเช่นนี้มีการคิด การวางแผนและทำไปโดยเจตนา แต่ทำไมนอกจากพนักงานสอบสวนจะทำคดีด้วยความล่าช้าแล้ว กลับไม่มีการแจ้งข้อหาฆ่าคนโดยไตร่ตรอง?

ผมขอเรียกร้องความเป็นธรรมให้ผู้เสียชีวิตและครอบครัว ขอให้มีการดำเนินการย้ายชุดสืบสวนปัจจุบัน (สน.โชคชัย) เพื่อความโปร่งใสในการดำเนินคดีกับทางผู้ต้องหาที่เป็นลูกของตำรวจในพื้นที่ รวมถึงแจ้งข้อหาฆ่าโดยไตร่ตรอง ขอให้ตำรวจดำเนินการส่งสำนวนฟ้องศาล เพื่อดำเนินคดีให้ถึงที่สุด และเป็นแบบอย่างที่ดีในการป้องกันปราบปรามเยาวชนหรือบุคคลทั่วไปไม่ให้กระทำความผิดในลักษณะเช่นนี้อีก

เหมือนอย่างที่คุณอนันต์ชัย ไชยเดช ทนายความคดีนี้เคยพูดเอาไว้ว่า “ระยะเวลาฆ่าความยุติธรรมได้...เพราะเมื่อสังคมสงบ สังคมเริ่มเงียบ ไม่มีใครเข้ามาจุดพลุเข้ามาเมื่อนั้น...ความยุติธรรมจะถดถอยไปทีละนิด” -- ดังนั้น ขอเชิญผู้ที่ยังยึดมั่นในความยุติธรรมทุกท่านร่วมลงชื่อสนับสนุน

Please help bring justice to Somkiet!

Somkiet, a disabled person, was brutally murdered in broad daylight by a group of six young men. The police has been on the hotspot since taking upon the case. They have also been criticised for ignoring the victim's best interest because some murderers are sons of police officers.

In respect of trust, transparency and neutrality in the investigation, this is a petition for “change”.

Following the delayed investigation of this brutal murder case by Chokechai Police Station team, many leading questions were posed adding benefits to the arrested murderers as well as biased statements officially made by the officers in charge at press conference. For these reasons, we have reasons to believe that justice is not being served.

We, therefore, appeal to replace the current investigation team with a neutral party which is more transparent in handling this case. We also want the team we can trust. We want the team to assure Somkiet's family and the public that they will do everything in their power to bring back justice.

Background story

A horrifying murder of a disabled man was captured on cameras.  The murder took place on Sunday 1st May 2016 in Soi Chokechai 4, in broad daylight, near the dead man’s place of work, a bakery shop called Pang Hom.

The video clips that went viral, and should serve as hard evidence, show a group of six men chasing Mr. Somkiat Srijan, the disabled man, to his death spot before the six closed in on him.  Some were hurling bricks at him and some were wielding swords and a machete during the attack.

Due to these men’s barbaric acts, Mr. Somkiat suffered several severe cuts to his head, limbs and torso.  As he was helpless and being held in the arms of his nephew, Mr. Matus, who persistently pleaded for Mr. Somkiat’s life to be spared, Mr. Somkiat was stabbed in the throat by one of the attackers, son of a police officer at Chokechai Police Station.

The life-ending stab happened in the presence of police officers who were called to the scene by Mr. Somkiat’s family.

In the viral video clip, a police officer was seen trying to stop the attack but the armed attackers completely disregarded the arrival and presence of the law enforcers on the scene.  Some of the attackers even advanced towards the police officers in a seemingly confrontational demeanour.  The hostile attackers only stopped when a police officer fired shots into the sky.

Acting Metropolitan Police Commissioner Pol Lt-Gen Sanit Mahathavorn stated that four of the six attackers are sons of police officers. Two of the four are sons of a police officer at Chokechai Police Station and the other two are sons of policemen at other stations.  He added that, despite the attackers’ family connections to the police community, a fair and impartial hearing will be given to all sides.However, despite video clips and hard evidence, the Police still has not charged any of the attackers with premeditated murder (which is most severely punishable by death in Thailand) citing there is insufficient evidence.

There are clips and evidence to indicate that the attackers planned to kill Mr. Somkiat by making a telephone call during which a request was made for weapons to be brought to the scene of crime. During the coldblooded attack, the group could be heard cheering on for the killing of Mr. Somkiat.  The group was clearly heard shouting “Kill him!  Finish him off!” in the video clip.

Given evidences gathered from video clips and CCTV cameras in the area, this can be nothing short of a premeditated murder and the murderers should be brought to justice in its highest form.  There was planning.  There was an obvious intention to take Mr. Somkiat’s life.  What we have seen so far is the Police’s tardiness in processing the case and their adamant refusal to charge Mr. Somkiat’s killers with premeditated murder.

Facts:

· The dead man, Mr. Somkiat, was his family major income-earner and worked in a small bakery called “Pang Hom” which is loosely translated to “Aromatic Bread”.

· He was disabled with a deformed leg and could not walk properly.

· He supported his elderly mother, a wife and two sons (aged 9 and 12).

· He was killed on Sunday 1st May 2016 (Labour Day) while he was working to earn an honest income.  At that same time, the murderers we coming back from a long night of drinking.

· Prior to the attack, Mr. Somkiat was insulted by one of the attackers as he was doing a morning round of delivery.  One of the attackers made a sarcastic comment directed at Mr. Somkiat.  The insult was “What shxtty bread!  Fxckingappetising!”

· The attackers claimed Mr. Somkiat answered back and they got angry by his response.

· When Mr. Somkiat’s family was calling the police, one of the attackers shouted “Yeah, do!  I’m son of a policeman!” – thus the hashtag #

Children of police officers.  So What!

· A video clip showed the attackers invading the bakery looking Mr. Somkiat before it all ended with a very sad loss of life - which leaves a family grieving, two boys orphaned, an elderly mother without support and the general public losing faith in the Police.
