Watch Marilyn Manson Play Calculating Hit Man in New Film
In 2015, Marilyn Manson was cast as a calculating hit man in the harrowing crime film Let Me Make You a Martyr. With the film set for its world premiere on July 22nd at the Fantasia Film Festival in Montreal, Rolling Stone has an exclusive clip from the upcoming film with Manson, rifle in hands, hard at work contract killing.
In the tense two-minute scene, Manson’s menacing Pope has a standoff with one of his targets, with both men threatening each other from opposite sides of a bedroom door. “Look, you would have shot me if you were man enough when I walked through the fucking door,” Manson’s part-Native American hit man growls. “Let’s just get this shit over with. You know you’re dead already.”
As Manson told Rolling Stone in 2015, actor Mark Boone Junior, who previously appeared on-screen alongside Manson in Sons of Anarchy, suggested the the rocker portray his fellow assassin-in-crime.
“Mark brought me into the project,” Manson says. “We were friends from Sons of Anarchy. He’s sort of my unwanted mentor. He tells me what to do. He’s always encouraged me, but he’s very bossy about it. He says things like, ‘You gotta do this, motherfucker. You’ll like this.'”
After reading the script and seeing the level of terror his character inflicted on the denizens of Let Me Make You a Martyr‘s world, Manson came onboard. “It was the biggest role that I’ve played. On the script, I’d say I was on half of the pages. I don’t know how the movie will end up though,” Manson said. “I just had to observe the level of poverty and, I guess, white trash element to the story.”
