Today's meeting: We've started to make change!

I've just finished my meeting with the Bank of England's Director of Banknotes and wanted to tell you all how it went. Firstly I’m delighted that such senior officials from The Bank of England spent a significant amount of time with us today to discuss the issues with having animal fat in the new five pound note. The meeting had perspectives from us vegans as well as religious perspective from the National Council of Hindu Temples (NCHT). Thank you to Satish Sharma from NCHT and Karin Ridgers from VeggieVision for joining me and adding their insights. We learnt that the problems are being taken seriously and the Bank assured us that alternatives are being acknowledged and explored. The best news of all is that the tender for the £20 note has been halted because of the issues that have been raised! This is such a great achievement and although no concrete solution has been determined yet - we are getting closer and will keep pushing this change forward - thank you to all 130,000 voices for raising this - let's keep going!
