Gone (An Original Poem)

in #poetry7 years ago (edited)

Gone are the days of youth
and the days of doubt,
gone are the minutes
mindlessly squandered,

As I wander this fair Earth,
the rock of my birth,
for whatever time remains,
I pray regret will never stain
the shine of this humble soul

the universe has so
graciously revealed both
its magic and majesty,
its kindness and its fury
I'm no longer in a hurry
this life is a lazy river
and I'm enjoying the ride

gone is the tolerance
for the toxic and the petty
I've invested too many
years getting ready
for a success I feared
would never come

I know what it feels
like to be spun
know what it feels
like to have lost and won,

I long to see
the truth laid bare
and crave each breath
of this rarified air
until I'm done,
and…

I'm just passing through and so glad I stopped to read this.

FREEDOM

yeah, I saw it clear as day

Ha! You're the first one to acknowledge it. I've been putting hidden messages in my poems for a while.

Unfortunately I've been preoccupied and missed many of your posts. After the first read through I knew I had to go back and see what it said. Those italics don't happen on accident. ;)

Oh, I understand life can get busy! It's really cool, another layer of creative expression. : )

Rushing as slowly as you can
Only will the moment width span
On stainless soul, mindfulness bliss

Namaste :)

Very nice line! Thank you for taking the time to read and comment. Namaste!

Lovely poem!
These lines are exquisite :

the universe has so
graciously revealed both
its magic and majesty,
its kindness and its fury

Thank you! This one came to me while I was driving. I had to pull over to the side of the road and type it out on my phone before it was --- gone. 😉

“One clear moment, one of trance
One missed step, one perfect dance
One missed shot, one and only chance
Life is all...but one fleeting glance.”

I like that quote, @lakshmi . Thanks for sharing it!

I loved reading your work Eric. There is ever a smile on my face when I finish reading your posts. Your poem reminded me of another one I read today.

"I'm feeling so focused and calm today
nothing negative is gonna get in my way
my eyes are shining so bright and clear,
it feels like all my dreams, close to coming true are near...."

nice!

I'm so glad. What a compliment! Thank you very much! Those are inspiring lines. Who wrote them?

Liz Munro. Her poem is called Journey

I'll have to check out her work, thank you!

You're welcome!

because I am wise
youth mimics my footprints
and when youth grows old
it will doubt my last step

This beautiful words

Wonderful work today. I just popped by to say 'hello'! I'm sat working on the images for 'A Bit of Grace'.

Thank you, @opheliafu ! I'm looking forward to seeing what you create for it!

for whatever time remains,
I pray regret will not stain
the light of this solemn soul

I long to see
the truth lay bare
and crave a breath
of this rarified air

Thank you, Ruth! After all these years the creative process still is amazing to me. This one came to me all at once, like it was downloaded.
