These recent cold, snowy winter days will soon give way to more balmy days as spring approaches. While it's cold, we crave hearty meals, but when temperatures moderate, our thoughts turn to lighter fare - Whatever you have in mind, the Friends' Book Store has a Cookbook to help you make a delicious meal, plus interesting and informative books on Wines, Beverages, Diet and Nutrition.
We also have a great variety of how-to books on topics such as crafts, home improvement/repairs, decorating, woodworking and more. Start your inside projects now or make your plans for that outdoor project you've been meaning to start once spring arrives.
Books on all these subject will be on sale beginning March 4 through March 30 at our low, reduced prices: 50¢ for Hardcover, 25¢ for oversize paperbacks and 10¢ for regular paperbacks.
More than 20,000 quality used books will be available at their regular prices of $2 or less during the sale in a wide variety of other categories, including history, travel, fiction and children's books. A selection of individually priced special books will also be available.
Friends' volunteers replenish the book shelves continually from the large inventory of presorted quality books that are donated by the community and housed in the Friends' warehouse, so the shelves are always full.
The Friends of the Poughkeepsie Public Library District is an all-volunteer organization that supports the district's programs and services. Click here if you would like to volunteer.
Book Store hours are 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. every Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday. The Store is located at the Boardman Road Branch Library (entrance behind the Library on the south side), 141 Boardman Rd., Poughkeepsie, and is open from 10 am to 4 pm every Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday.
