As an enormous and long-time fan of the marvellous Springwatch, I was devastated to hear from Martin's Twitter page that he has been sacked from the show:

From Martin Hughes Games' Twitter feed "The bbc commissioner Tom McDonald has decided my services no longer required on springwatch etc. Sad but it's been brilliant- thank you!!"

The show has brought sheer joy to the public for several years in its current format and that is in part down to the enthusiasm, warmth and passion evident within Martin's presenting. His chemistry with Chris and Michaela has propelled the show to levels of success that are reflected in its current popularity.

It is grossly unfair to terminate his involvement and has appalled the army of loyal fans that Springwatch has accrued.

This petition may not bring him back to the show but if we can get enough signatures it will certainly show the BBC that we are not happy and more importantly express to Martin how dear he is to the viewers.

Also, a polite and impassioned letter FAO the Head of Natural History and Specialist Factual Commissioning, Tom McDonald at the BBC would certainly help too!
