If you’re a bookworm, you should know this -- no matter how much you’re willing to fork out for a book(s), there are times when you’ve thought about how much your hobby costs you.

Especially if you’re always itching to get your hands on the latest releases. Or if you caught a really good book-to-movie trailer and you want to read it first, because books are almost always better than their movie adaptations.

The struggle is real. Particularly at the end of the month. via

And that’s one habit you can’t kick. But honestly, reading probably ranks in the top echelon of hobbies that one could have anyway. So why get rid of something that feeds both your mind and soul?

Here’s a free and easy solution to your problem.

Described by King himself as his “magnum opus”, The Dark Tower is a series of eight books that revolves around a gun-slinger in a post-apocalyptic world, searching for the Dark Tower - a powerful but elusive nexus of the time-space continuum.

King’s Dark Tower series has reportedly sold more than 30 million copies, and the movie adaptation is set to be released this coming August.

Bonus: Idris Elba stars as the gunslinger, Roland Deschain.

2. Murder on the Orient Express by Agatha Christie

A classic by the mother of all crime novelists, Murder on the Orient Express stars Christie’s famed detective character, Hercule Poirot, who finds himself with 12 suspects after a mysterious murder occurs on board a long-distance passenger train from Istanbul to London.

The upcoming movie, to be released at the end of the year, is the novel’s fourth adaptation.

Fun fact: 3 million copies of Murder on the Orient Express were sold in 1974, when the first film was released.

3. Everything, everything by Nicola Yoon

What is with Hollywood and their obsession with teenage love dramas? We have no idea but Everything, Everything probably has everything you’d find to make this book-to-movie adaptation rake in the big bucks - five times its original production budget, in fact.

At this rate, we can expect even more melodrama teenage love stories to be part of our Hollywood movie diet for years to come.

4. American Assassins by Vince Flynn

Revenge is one of the best motivators in the world and when love is thrown into the mix, that’s where you get “Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned” -- except this time around we have a dude.

Our protagonist, Mitch Rapp, loses his girlfriend in a terrorist attack and that sets him on a quest to rid the world of all terrorist elements straight out of university.

If this movie does as well as the book, we’re witnessing the birth of a brand new movie IP for many years to come.

5. Ready Player One by Ernest Cline

Ready Player One is one of the most anticipated movie titles geeks have been waiting for. The movie is directed by Steven Spielberg, who has a gargantuan task in taking on one of the best books of modern geekdom.

The book received rave reviews all across the board and expectations are sky high. So, read the book before you inevitably watch the movie. Check out the trailer below and try to spot all the various easter eggs in one pass -

6. Wonder by Raquel Jaramillo

An uplifting children’s novel about a boy with a facial difference who attends a mainstream school and wants nothing more but to be treated like any other kid.

Full of heart, compassion and friendships, the novel is good for both children and adults -- because learning not to judge people by how they look is something for all ages.
