‘World’s Largest Cider Taproom’ Announces Portland Opening Date

A single table will be around 20 feet long and weigh over a thousand pounds

Last December, Seattle-based Schilling Cider House announced plans to expand to Portland to serve the largest number of on-tap ciders in the world, and today, it declared by press release those 50 taps will become available to the public on June 16. Located at 930 SE 10th Ave., the Schilling Cider House Portland will offer pints, growler-fills, a bottle selection, and an entirely gluten-free food menu, with things like tots and locally made sausages.

For cider heads, Schilling courteously outlines its cider philosophy. It will only pour ciders from cideries that check the following boxes: They must be independently owned; naturally gluten-free; use no artificial colors, flavors, or preservatives; and make ciders using 100-percent-fresh-pressed juice.

The Schilling Cider House Portland will operated daily from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. And it’s going to be big: Founders Mark Kornei and Colin Schilling are building a full-on cidery, taproom, and restaurant, with an outdoor patio with fireplace. Apparently, a single table alone is 20-feet long and weighs more than a thousand pounds. Check out this early rendering — replete with daring unicyclist:
