FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) – Fort Wayne native and Marion High School graduate Vijay Blackmon will be a Saint Francis Cougar next basketball season.

Blackmon has verbally committed to play for USF and coach Chad LaCross.

Earlier this summer Blackmon indicated he would head to IMG Academy in Bradenton, Florida for a postgraduate season.

Blackmon is the second addition for Saint Francis this summer that’s known as a perimeter scoring threat to Fort Wayne basketball fans. Chandler White – Carroll’s all-time leading scorer – announced he would be transferring to USF after one season with the Toledo Rockets.

A six-foot-three guard, Blackmon played his first season of high school basketball at Bishop Luers before transferring to Marion to play for his father.

During his recently completed senior year at Marion Blackmon averaged 17.4 points and 2.9 assists a game, leading his team to a 23-7 record and the 3A state title.
