That "Special Gift"

Matthew 11:2-11

Christmas brings many gifts. Some are very special. Some you remember for your entire life. John is offering this “Special Gift” to his disciples (followers). John the Baptist wanted them to believe Jesus is the Messiah.

While in prison, John sent his disciples to research Jesus to help them to believe. John’s disciples found Jesus and ask him, Are you the Messiah? Jesus replied with the scripture: The blind receive their sight, the lame walk, the leapers are cleansed, the deaf hear, the dead are raised up, and the poor have the gospel preached to them.”

Today many ministers, like John the Baptist, teach their congregations to research the bible, see that Jesus is the Messiah, believe in Jesus as their Savior, to ask for forgiveness, to become disciples of Jesus, receive their “Special Gift” of Jesus’ forgiveness, and eternal life in heaven.

During this Christmas season, ask yourself, why do I go to church? What do I expect to see and hear? Do I look around with thoughts that have nothing to do with Jesus? Do I let bad thoughts enter my mind? Am I concentrating on Jesus, receiving HIS SPECIAL GIFT, and becoming a true disciple of Jesus?

This Christmas, receive the “Special Gift “of Jesus. Fill your life with becoming a disciple of Jesus.

Prayer: Jesus, may each of us desire to be Your good disciples. May we accept Your “Special Gift” of Salvation. May our thoughts and actions be centered upon YOU. Amen.
