Women's Track and Field

APPEZZATO NAMED ACADEMIC ALL-AMERICA BY COSIDA

Paul Juelis, Cristina Cristea and Appezzato also earn All-District Team

Mahwah, NJ:  Senior Alexis Appezzato was named to the Capital One Academic All-America Women's Track & Field/Cross Country Second Team.
 
Appezato who holds a 3.73 GPA, placed 15th overall at the 2015 NCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championships hitting a mark of 40.94 meters in the javelin.  Appezzato was recently crowned New Jersey Athletic Conference Champion for the third time in her career and was named NJAC Most Outstanding Field Athlete of the Year.  She earned NJAC First Team All-Conference honors, a third-time honor, and holds the NJAC record in the javelin.  She also was the silver medalist at the ECAC Championship earlier in the season. During her career she was a two-time All-American, earning a national championship crown in 2014 and placing third in 2013.  She also was named 2014 USTFCCCA Scholar Athlete of the Year and currently holds the school record in her event.  This season, Appezzato received the Ramapo College Career award for her stellar career as a Roadrunner.
 
Appezzato along with Cristina Cristea and Paul Juelis earned Capital One Academic All-District First Team. With this first team honor these student-athletes moved onto the All-America ballot.
 
Cristea who holds a 3.69 GPA, finished 17th at the 2015 NCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championships in the heptathlon competition. Her totals from the two day event earned her a 17th placing overall, after coming into the national competition ranked 20th, with a personal best 4,373 points. She posted personal bests in the 800-meter race (2:25.01) and in the 100-meter race when she clocked in with a time of 14.90.
 
Juelis who holds a 3.74 GPA, was crowned NJAC Outdoor Track & Field Champion in the 5,000-meter run with a time of 15:11.40 earning NJAC First Team All-Conference honors. During the men's cross country season he placed 15th overall at the 2014 NCAA Cross Country Atlantic Region Championships with a time of 25:36.8. For his efforts he was named to the 2014 NCAA Division III XC All-Region Team sponsored by the USTFCCCA.
