Whole Herd Reporting News
The 2017 WHR (Whole Herd Reporting) inventories were mailed out this week. The WHR inventories must be completed and returned to the BBU office by May 1, 2017. An additional $5 per head will be assessed for the WHR inventories returned after May 1, 2017.
Please note if you are participating in a spring sale, your WHR inventory needs to be updated and returned prior to registering any animals born in 2017. BBU members who are interested in enrolling in the WHR program, but are not currently participating, please contact the BBU office at 210-732-3132 or info@beefmasters.org.

Brandi Feller Joins BBU Staff

Calving Ease EPDs
Later this month, Beefmaster Breeders United will introduce Calving Ease Direct (CED) and Calving Ease Maternal (CEM) Expected Progeny Differences (EPDs) in the next genetic evaluation. These new Beefmaster EPDs were approved by the BBU Board of Directors in October 2016 at the annual convention in Branson, Mo.

Dale Lasater & Casey Beefmaster cows in Idaho trailing ten miles thru several feet of snow to an area where Doug Johnson can hay them. Don't let anyone tell you Beefmaster cattle can't take the cold. These girls survived several days of minus 25 & 30 degree days that was the high!!!

During the trade show, several members visited with commercial cattlemen and answered questions about the Beefmaster breed.
