The sun was out on Friday, but winds were whipping around for a majority of the morning and early afternoon which made conditions a bit rough for both swimmers and spectators at the Tri-County Conference meet.

The Wolves and the Patriots finished in second and third place with scores of 729 and 556, respectively, at Woodland High’s pool on Friday. River City took the top spot with a team score of 894.

To go with solid team finishes, Pioneer’s Eric Livingston earned the boys Most Valuable Player honor and Woodland’s Hannah Boatman did the same for the girls. Livingston was tied for first in the individual standings with 40 points alongside fellow Patriot Connor Daniels and River City’s Andrew Conklin. Boatman’s 40 points were tied for the best with her teammate Kasidee Pascoe and River City’s Dru Mills.

In other accolades, Woodland took first place in four different heats. In the 200 girls medley relay the Wolves raced Pascoe, Genesis Suarez, Boatman and Carissa Hines who combined for a time of 2:05.01 to edge River City.

Pascoe finished first in the girls 200 freestyle with a time of 2:01.69 and the 100 yard backstroke with a time of 1:03.93. Boatman won the 100 girls freestyle with a time of 55.53 seconds — second place finished with a time of 1:04.72.

Pioneer managed to secure the top spot in seven different events. In the 200 medley relay, Joshua Graham, Daniels, Linvingston and Chandler Holloway finished with a time of 1:45.42, a full three seconds ahead of the second place finish by Inderkum.

The Patriots also took the 400 boys freestyle relay with the same four swimmers as the 200 medley, just in a different order.

Livingston went on to win the 200 yard boys freestyle and the 100 butterfly, meanwhile Daniels took first in the 500 boys freestyle and the 100 backstroke. Graham also took first in the 100 boys backstroke with a time of 102.81, a full second ahead of Inderkum’s Tanner Lee.

Other notable finishes for the Wolves include Kobe Garcia’s third place finish in the 200 boys freestyle and second in the 500 freestyle, Jesus Naranjo finished second in the boys 50 freestyle, and the girls foursome of Pascoe, Katie Kirchner, Boatman and Hines took second in the 200 freestyle relay.

Pioneer’s Rachel May finished second in the girls 500 freestyle and third in the 200 yard IM. Casey Thomas also finished third in the 200 boys IM.
