New Field House

I am very proud to have been a part of raising funds and allocating monies for this worthy project.  I think parks are so important because they help build a sense of community and help us unite as neighbors.  The new field house at Maplewood Park will feature two club rooms, bathrooms and be ADA accessible, all much needed updates to the 1950 original field house.  According to the Chicago Park District, the new field house will look similar to the Lowe Park Field House:

Scholarships

As part of the Chicago City Council Latino Caucus, I helped found the Chicago Latino Caucus Foundation, a non-profit that helps promote education among working-class Latino families.  Together, we were able to raise over $300,000 and awarded $5,000 scholarships to many deserving students who would not be able to afford college on their own.  To read more about the award and Juanita and Andrea, two of this year's recipients, click here.
