It has been a little over two weeks since Dennis Stahl took over as mayor of South Padre Island.
The new mayor is a San Antonio businessman who moved to South Padre Island in 2014. He served as a councilman for South Padre Island for the past 3 years. He also served as mayor-pro tem since former mayor Barry Patel resigned. Now that he’s settled into his new position, Mayor Stahl spoke about his goals for South Padre Island.
“I’m looking forward to it. I call it everyone’s island and by everyone’s island I mean everyone is welcome here. We love everyone. All of our visitors and all of our residents. We’re just going to make the best job that we can and make judgements that are best.”
Mayor Stahl said he has many plans for the island. Sidewalk improvement along Padre Boulevard is one project that will continue.
