Belton, Texas – University of Mary Hardin-Baylor men's golf coach Aaron Rodeffer has been promoted to the University's Director of Facility Services and Event Services, effective August 1st. Rodeffer will give up his head coaching duties as he moves into his new role on campus.
Rodeffer will now be responsible for the day-to-day operations of Crusader Stadium, the Mayborn Campus Center and Bawcom Student Union at UMHB. He will also oversee all of UMHB's Event Services and oversee coordination of the University's summer camps in his new role.
"It has been an honor to be the men's golf coach at UMHB and I've been fortunate to have success in that role," Rodeffer said. "I've had the opportunity to coach some outstanding young men and it has been an honor to coach them. It is with mixed feelings that I end my coaching career to take on this new role. But I look forward to the transition and the chance to help the University continue its tradition of excellence in everything that we do."
Rodeffer spent seven years as the head men's golf coach at UMHB and led the Cru to three American Southwest Conference Championships during his tenure. UMHB has won the last two ASC titles. Rodeffer also guided the Cru to three NCAA Division III National Championship appearances and was named ASC Men's Golf Coach of the Year three times. He coached two ASC Individual Champions and seven GCAA Academic All-Americans in his time as head coach at UMHB.
"I have mixed feelings because I am excited for Aaron and the opportunity he has to move on to the next phase of his career, but I hate to lose him as a coach," Cru Vice-President for Athletics Randy Mann said. "He has been an outstanding golf coach and you don't find many people with all of the qualities he possesses. He leaves some big shoes to fill and it will be difficult for us to replace a man like him."
Rodeffer also coached on the high school level locally at Ellison High School and Temple High School and served as Director of Sammons Junior Golf Academy. He is a graduate of Washington State University and earned his Master's Degree at UMHB. Rodeffer has his wife, Megan, have two high school aged children, Molly and Brandt. Molly Rodeffer has already been accepted and will be a freshman at UMHB in the fall of 2016. A search for a replacement as men's golf coach will begin immediately.
