Use Chores to Get Your Strength Training Without Paying for a Gym Membership

If you're into strength training but have no desire to pay for a gym membership or spend a ton of money on weights and a bench for your home, Greatist has some ways to get your workouts in by turning your regular chores into solid exercise.

The article lists nine different household chores and activities that can make for great strength training, many of which (like shoveling snow, mowing the lawn, or raking leaves) you're probably already familiar with. One that stood out to us though was rearranging furniture and helping a friend move—usually we think of helping friends move as the worst possible way to spend a weekend morning or afternoon, but lending a helping hand can actually be a huge boon to our bodies and a great workout if we do it safely.

We're not saying you should start a moving company, but the next time your friend calls you up asking if you can help him or her move to a new apartment, it might be worth saying yes—you'll get some serious strength training out of it. In between those phone calls though, rearranging your own furniture can give your home a refreshed look and do wonders for your health.
