Avery Keller is just your typical high school girl. Popular, pretty, and well-liked, she’s a sophomore at South Brookdale High School, and sees herself as a normal teenager. But all is not as it outwardly appears. Avery’s home life has become complicated, and she’s been harassing her ex-best friend Jessica Burns for reasons neither of them can put into words. The walls are beginning to crumble around this typical high school girl.
Jessica Burns has an ideal home life and a loyal best friend in Brian Slater. But her ex-best friend Avery Keller has made her life a living hell, and Jessica’s reaching a breaking point. Feeling singled out and alone, Jessica can’t understand why Avery hates her so much. Unable to talk to her parents or her teachers, she must find a different way out of her situation, and her choice has the potential to not only change her life, but also those of everyone around her.
Brian Slater is a sophomore at South Brookdale High School. He’s been best friends with Jessica Burns for years, since they bonded over a shared love of music. Brian has been standing by helpless while Jessica is relentlessly picked on by Avery Keller, and he’s finally decided to do something about it. Drawing on his photography hobby, he devises a plan to gather evidence of Avery’s behavior, only to find that his evidence will play a much bigger role in all of their lives than he could have ever imagined.
