North Carolina activists are showing their solidarity with public workers in Wisconsin, who are fighting to protect collective bargaining rights.
The North Carolina NAACP and labor groups held a noon-time rally in front of the NC General Assembly to show a united front in defense of public service workers and to call for the repeal of the 1959 N.C. law that bans collective bargaining here.
During the event, NC NAACP president Rev. William Barber called on legislators “to promote a peoples’ budget.”
Ajamu Dillahunt with the N.C. Justice Center echoed that sentiment saying “a budget is not just a fiscal issue, it’s a covenant with the people.”
