Social engineering is the art of manipulating people so they give up confidential information.
How To Avoid Social Engineering Attacks
Be wary of emails, instant messages and phone calls for unsolicited people such as service providers. Verify the source of message before giving out any information.
Go slow and pay keen attention to fine details in emails and messages. Never let the urgency in attacker’s message cloud your judgment.
Never download email attachment from unknown senders. If necessary open the attachment in protected view which is enabled by default in many operating systems.
Reject requests for online tech support from strangers no matter how legitimate they may appear.
Pay attention to website URL. Sometimes online fraudsters make slight changes to URLs in order to direct traffic to their own spoofed sites.
Avoid being greedy on the web. If you never participated in a lottery, it goes without saying that you can never be the winner. If you never lost money, why would you accept a refund from the FBI?
MoDOT Highway 45 Widening Project Update
Project Update 9/26/17: The approach to Brightwell Road is now being paved and temporary streets lights have been placed at the entrance of Brightwell. Be aware, the exiting road will be reduced to one lane and the temporary traffic light will work as a flagger at all times. This will last several weeks.
The new approach from Route 45 to Nevada has been paved. The portion of pavement connecting the new approach to the existing road will be poured sometime this week. Residents will be able to exit ONLY TO THE WEST beginning October 2.
The new approach from Timber Ridge onto Route 45 has been laid out and ready to be paved. In order to do this, the entrance at Timber Ridge will drop down to one-lane traffic for a few weeks. This will not happen until after the completion of the new approach at Brightwell.
The project will be completed by the end of 2017.
