Army nabs 6 adivasi militants in Assam

Based on specific information, the Army on Tuesday apprehended six hardcore armed cadres of All Adivasi National Liberation Army cadres including the outfit’s elf-styled ‘chairman’ Anand Nayak alias Dilip Nayak, in Karbi Anglong district in Assam.

GUWAHATI: Based on specific information, the Army on Tuesday apprehended six hardcore armed cadres of All Adivasi National Liberation Army cadres including the outfit’s elf-styled ‘chairman’ Anand Nayak alias Dilip Nayak, in Karbi Anglong district in Assam.
Defence PRO Lt Col S Newton said that the operation was launched on accurate information of Army Intelligence.
“It was a surgical operation and these cadres had recently entered east Karbi Anglong to carry out a weapons deal close to the Nagaland border and were nabbed from one of their transit location in Jilangso village under Bakuliya police station.”
The other cadres apprehended are self-styled district commander Sumon Gaur, Mandeep Gour, Kanak Ram, Uttam Munda and Riten Munda. Two factory made 9mm pistols and four 7.65 pistols with ammunition and two hand grenades were recovered from them.
In another incident, one cadre of National Democratic Front of Boroloand (Songbijit) was also nabbed by the Army at Gossaigaon market in Kokrajhar district in a joint operation with Assam Police. The defence PRO said that the apprehended militant, identified as Swrwng Narzary, was involved in various cases of extortion, kidnapping. One pistol along with two live rounds were recovered from the terrorist.
