(KUTV) Salt Lake City - The Gallivan Center's Ice Rink is opening Friday November 17th at 6 pm! Brooke Mangum from Rock 106.7 checked out the ice rink herself for Fresh Living, and stopped to chat with a couple of amazing women (Tara Olson with Gallivan Center and Stephanie Bass, Director of the American Ice Theatre of Utah).

The Lights On event will be on Wednesday, November 29th from 4 pm-7 pm. The ceremony will be led and hosted by Salt Lake City and Mayor Biskupski. At 5:30 pm, the ceremony will illuminate over 350,000 lights, including our 60 foot tree. Our holiday lights will be glowing green this season with renewable energy supported by customers from Rocky Mountain Power's Blue Sky Renewable Energy Program. The event will include fun holiday music, lights, sponsor booths, an ice skating show by America Ice Theatre of Utah, Santa Claus, and much more! Best of all: it's FREE to attend the event.

Ice Skating is available for all ages based on admission prices. Adult- $9, Kids, Seniors- $8, Kids 3 and under are free. Skate rentals are included with admission prices.

About The American Ice Theatre of Utah:

The American Ice Theatre of Utah is so excited to celebrate their fifth performance season with the Gallivan center! Kicking off their performance season is the Light's On event! Performing to a medley from the blockbuster sensation "La La Land." Our professional skaters will stay on the ice after the performance to offer little tips on basic skating. AIT of Utah will also be hosting a coat drive during the event. So be sure to clean out your closet and we will be accepting all warm winter clothes that will be donated to the Road Home. ~We will also be performing a full skating show during the Olympics at the Gallivan Center this February. We will have guest performers, skater meet and greet with cocktails, as well as an amazing skating show never done before at the Gallivan.
