Searcy manufacturer adding new product, 30 jobs

— A New Hampshire-based manufacturer is adding a new product line that will create at least 30 jobs in its Searcy facility within about the next year, company officials said.

Electrocraft Arkansas, 1701 South Benton Ave., will begin production of a new heating and air conditioner motor in October, said plant manager Doug Cook. The company also made about $300,000 in capital improvements to its Searcy facility to begin production of the SN Tech device, Cook said.

Cook said excitement is high at the plant.

"It's a big shot in the arm for us," he said. "We've been in the downsizing mode for the last two years and it's nice to be able to reverse that cycle."

Cook said there could be even more jobs added if the economy improves.

Officials from the Arkansas Economic Development Commission and Gov. Mike Beebe are expected to announce more information on the new jobs at a news conference Wednesday at the facility.
