A woman who was groped in the East Village last weekend was beaten after she confronted her attacker, and now police are asking for the public's help finding him.

The assault took place at 1:45 a.m. on Saturday, July 23rd, in front of 208 First Avenue between 12th and 13th Streets. Police say the man grabbed the 37-year-old victim's buttocks, and when she confronted him about the incident, "the suspect punched her in the face numerous times."

The suspect, who fled north on First Avenue, is described as being 20-25 years old, 5'8" and 140 pounds. He was last seen wearing a dark colored shirt and blue jeans.
