I was having "difficulty" with the neanderthal web-hosting company based in Michigan, and could only speak to someone with knowledge if I refused to pay . . . . (you know how that goes). I switched to Justia after the fight, and have been happy ever since.
I believe that Justia.com stays abreast of the trends because when I see a trending issue I send it to them and they usually respond that they have been dealing with that issue or make changes and suggestions to help me with the issue. I like being able to call up and speak to my representative or the owner, and I feel as though I am always ranked near the top in most of my practice areas.
They send me periodic reminders to make my site work for me, and it is up to me to make it better. I know I should post more, write more content, etc., and I am sure they would do more if I paid more. I also appreciate the fact that they have pretty much held the line on expenses, though they are likely not the "cheapest."Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Mark R.Bernalillo, NM4622112Apr 24, 2014
I originally "designed" our web site in 1999. Finally, after a decade, when it was (well past) time to seek professional help, we chose Justia to redesign the site, implement a content management system (CMS), and generally bring it into the 21st century. We chose Justia based on the company's history and reputation in the legal community.
The Justia team presented us with a number of design concepts to better-present the b-to-c and b-to-b content on our site. Once we settled on a new design/layout, they automated the process of importing the more than 700 existing pages of our site, bringing all the existing pages into the Drupal content management system, while still preserving the internal and external linking structures and navigation between pages in the new site. They also set up auto re-directs for all of the pages on our previous site, so that all of the existing external links to our site would continue to point to the corresponding page(s) on the new site. They were also careful to structure the redirects so they would not negatively effect our Google rankings.
Before the site went live, Justia provided detailed instructions, and walked me through the process we would have to go through to create different content for our site going forward. They made the transition process from our old ftp site to the new Drupal CMS platform as painless as possible.
Since the new site has been live, we have had a number of questions for the Justia team about a variety of issues, including: creating certain types of pages, adding features or functions to the site, and changes to the site - all of which they were able to find solutions for.
After going through this process with Justia and working with them on our site for some time, I would recommend them to any legal professional looking to launch or redevelop their web site.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Stacey E.Eola, IL273161Aug 27, 2018
I work closely with attorneys to build website content and help with SEO. In my role I have had to work closely with multiple members of Justia's team. I have come to greatly respect the quality of work and expertise of the staff. Justia understands SEO and provides me with clear instructions as to what I need to do to provide the best content for my client. Justia provides tools and strategies to help me efficiently produce high-quality, unique content. This is critical because of the amount of client work I must produce. Justia is responsive. When I have questions, I can get quick answers through email or by picking up the phone. While Justia has an extensive client list, its staff always makes my client's website a priority. In other words Justia provides excellent work and excellent customer service.

I had a bad experience with this company. The substantial money I spent on web design and marketing was an almost total waste. When I spoke to Tim Stanley about probably not renewing my subscription, he threw a temper tantrum and got nasty. Not the kind of behavior you want to see from the people in charge of a law firm's web presence.
Edit after reading owner's response: Mr. Stanley, the review is the truth, it is you who is fake. You're either lying or don't remember the incident. In either case, it doesn't say much about you or the way you do business.
No return on investment hurts, but it's part of the risk of legal marketing. You're insulting behavior, however, was salt in the wound. No one deserves that.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Business owner information

This review is fake.
I do not personally talk to many clients (I am the CEO), and when I do, I do not have temper tantrums or get upset. It never helps, whether with clients, children or with anyone in life. We have thousands of clients, and we understand that sometimes people cancel. It is the nature of the business we are in. And while we do not like losing clients, we are totally aware of the value we present and the benefits our clients receive and our overall client base continues to grow.
I have only talked with two San Francisco clients in the past few years about their websites. One was a family lawyer, whose issue was too many leads (it was an interesting issue, which is why I joined the call). We changed the marketing on the website and directory listings to focus on a certain demographic of higher net worth individuals. The other client was Jeffer Mangels Butler & Mitchell on a major site redesign of https://www.jmbm.com .
But with no client, anywhere in the country, have I had a temper tantrum. The review is totally false.
---
Edit after Reviewers Edit: I still have no idea who you are, as I have not had a "temper tantrum" with any clients. You should use your actual name. Like I said before, this review is fake. It is one of the problems with Yelp, that they never require proof of someone being a client, it is Twitter for reviews. Yelp should do what Justia and Avvo do. On our sites if a review is flagged by a lawyer, we require proof that the reviewer was actually the lawyer's client. - Jerry G.Evanston, IL817Mar 29, 2015
I have been in the legal information and legal tech fields for 30+ years. I can say without hesitation that Justia has the most responsive, visionary, and technically savvy team in the legal community. Though I rarely have issues with Justia support, on the few occasions when I have contacted the group, the answers and solutions were immediate and comprehensive. And while I think I know something about CMS, I continue to be impressed by the advanced knowledge and implementation skills of the Justia tech team. Furthermore, as a fellow advocate for the idea of free law -- that the people should have free access to government-created legal materials -- I am indebted to Justia for putting that idea into practice. Justia remains the most comprehensive public site to free legal materials.
It has been my privilege to train generations of attorneys. I unhesitatingly direct them to Justia with the confidence that their professional profiles will be in the hands of the finest technical and marketing people in the business.
Bottom line: Justia leads the way when it comes to designing, marketing, and promoting law firms in a rapidly changing environment. And by doing these tasks so well, Justia also does real good by its willingness to make an ever-growing trove of legal resources available at no cost to public and professional alike.
Yogi Berra said "It's tough to make predictions, especially about the future." I know that Justia is always thinking about tomorrow and the changes necessary to stay at the top of its game. That leadership assures long-term confidence in the ever more demanding, technically sophisticated world of legal practice.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Henry L.Lawrence, MA2621431Nov 23, 2013First to Review
Best foreplay for ever.
Sadly, the delivery is terrible. This is a company with individuals who have poor communications skills, and inadequate ability to deal with questions and criticism. The typical response is we know because we did the research. Even when I provided them with specific data that their web design and SEO WAS DEFECTIVE, I never received a credible response.
I warned them by email and Facebook that I would be providing them with an adverse testimonial. No response.
When arrogance dominates your business model and when the company believes that customer service is irrelevant, they have a major problem. When I provide Justia with feedback and this is totally ignored, Justia has a problem. When Justia takes my money, and screws up my internet marketing, they have a problem.
Overall, I would give the a negative rating based on my personal experience and my personal opinion of them. I would give them a -5 stars.
If you belie my personal opinion, either contact me and/or stay away from them. I would be glad to show others the critiques of their effort so they can judge for themselves,Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Business owner information

It's hard to help a client who refuses to take your calls or schedule a time to talk with you. As the CEO of Justia, I made multiple attempts to reach Henry Lebensbaum (the author of the review I am replying to here) during his time as a client to follow up on his questions, but he refused to take my calls or schedule a time to talk with me.
Instead, Henry seemed more interested in interacting with and bullying female members of our team. For instance, during his time as a client, he wrote attacks on the personal Facebook page of one of our female team members, and a crude private message rife with sexual innuendo. He even went so far as to personally harass her publicly on LinkedIn six months after his service with Justia had ended.
Henry's behavior toward women on our team, combined with his history of inappropriate relations with a female legal client led us to limit his contact to male team members. I would caution any company that would consider conducting business with Henry that if he makes offensive verbal communications or sends offensive messages to your employees, you the employer may be liable for his sexual harassment of your employees.
You can read about Henry's suspension from the State Bar of Massachusetts, for reasons that included, among other misconduct, engaging in a sexual relationship with a client he was representing in her divorce, who he then also introduced to the criminal legal system, as a defendant: a summary is here: http://j.st/hl and the petition for discipline here: http://j.st/hl2
Many factors affect the search engine optimization (SEO) of a website, including the source code and tagging, website navigation, content organization and cross links to create authority pages, schema markup for optimizing for local and map searches, distribution of the website to directories and social media for increased PageRank, and original, high quality, relevant content on the website itself.
Henry's previous website had copied pages from other law firm websites. There are legal and ethical issues of presenting another law firm's content as you own. The other law firms could have sued him for copyright infringement, filed a complaint with the state bar, or filed a DMCA with Google and the pages would have been removed from the Google index entirely. Beyond these issues, from a pure SEO perspective, copied content does not rank well on Google.
It took a while to get Henry to update his content, but once he did, combined with our other SEO work, his site started to rank higher on the search engines, including some first-page search results on Google after only a few months of going live. His Google organic traffic more than tripled during the time we hosted his site, which was only seven months. The site could have done even better, unfortunately, even after the site re-launched and numerous warnings, Henry continued to copy content for new pages he wanted to add to his website. Again, copied content does not rank well in Google.
Instead of focusing on proven best practices for search engine optimization, Henry seemed fixated on meaningless advice from "experts." For instance, he insisted that we remove the redirect from his non-www domain name to his www domain name, allowing the site to be indexed under both, which does not help search engine visibility and can actually be counterproductive.
We are always looking for ways to improve and we appreciate constructive feedback, and have made numerous additions and enhancements to our services and organization since Henry was a client back in 2013. That said, his review is unfounded.

Justia refuses to change an error that has my mother listed as a "Patent Agent" instead of "Patent Attorney" after a friend of hers alerted her to the mistake. My mother called several times and was told the error would be corrected. Days later we were informed there was nothing Justia could do to change the mistake which is BS. She is properly listed on Lawyers.com as a patent attorney and her IN and OH bar history is public.

We have been a client of Justia's for over 10 years. They designed our website and set up an SEO program for us. The results have been very impressive. They are very responsive and knowledgable. We can't imagine ever leaving them.
