KNPD chairman Oliver Scicluna stresses importance of 'continuous and open' dialogue between the government, opposition and stakeholder

Chairman of the Kummissjoni Nazzjonali Persuni b’Diżabilità (KNPD) Oliver Scicluna has stressed the importance of continuous dialogue between the government and the opposition in issues related to the rights of people with a disability.

“It’s thanks to an open and frank discussion that goes beyond partisan tendencies that we can come up with suitable ideas for the improvement of the quality of life for those with a disability,” Scicluna said, stressing the need to keep dialogue open to persons with a disbility and their relatives as well.

Scicluna thanked the government and the opposition for the parliament’s discussions of the equal opportunities law last week.

“I hope the spirit of unity will reign in discussions of this sector, to ensure that the central aim is to better serve the needs of persons with a disability,” he said conceding that disagreements might sometimes occur.
