Last Friday night, the Rocklin and Grant Pacers football squads faced off in front of an enormous crowd at Rocklin High. The Thunder and Pacers seemed to be in a defensive battle after the end of the first quarter, but  Rocklin took control in the second quarter and never looked back.

With huge performances from Garet Ruffner (100 Yards 1TD 2INT), Hunter Gonzales (15 Tackles), and Cade Wyant (249 Passing Yards), the Thunder took a commanding 24-0 lead and ultimately finished with a 24-14 victory over the eighth ranked Pacers. With the dominant win over Grant, Rocklin has jumped up two spots in the rankings to claim the number seven spot in the Sacramento area.

After the highly anticipated matchup against Grant, the Thunder football team moves their attention to the Napa Indians, from the Monticello Empire League.

Rocklin has prepared to face the Indians just as they did with Grant, through “intense, mentally focused practices.” says Receiver Garet Ruffner. After defeating Napa last season at home 28-16, the Thunder will make the long journey to Napa for their second preseason game this season.

However, high temperatures provide a problem for the players. Due to California being in a high pressure system this past week, temperatures have reached up to 110 degrees. As a result, the teams have agreed to cancel the JV game and push the Varsity game back to eight.

Make sure to come out and support our Varsity players tonight at Napa.
