Omaha, Neb. - Seven Gulf South Conference student-athletes were listed on the annual
D2Baseball News Tino Martinez and Brett Tomko Award lists on Friday.
The Tino Martinez Award, which is presented annually to the NCAA Division II Most Valuable Player, saw 30 standouts make the list. Among them, were Delta State's Will Robertson and, the
2016 GSC Player of the Year, Lee's Ben Holland.
DSU's Robertson led the GSC with a .457 batting average and also had 27 doubles, eight homeruns and 69 RBI.
Lee's Holland paced the conference with 17 homeruns to go along with 23 doubles and a .417 BA.
The winner of the 2016 Tino Martinez Award will be named Monday, June 6, following the NCAA Division II World Series, which will held in Cary, N.C. The finalists will be revealed prior to the beginning of the NCAA DII finals.
