Cocaine, thousands in cash seized from Allentown home

Allentown police say they charged two men and seized cocaine plus thousands of dollars in cash from their city home.

Luis A. Morales, 42, and Julio Pomales-Martinez, 21, both of the 1100 block of West Washington Street, were arraigned Wednesday night on felony drug and related charges.

The Allentown police vice unit served a search warrant about 9 a.m. Wednesday, finding $9,000, about 270 grams of cocaine, two digital scales, related packaging materials and documents belonging to three people, court records say.

One of the three, Maricelly Martinez-Sanchez, told police the drugs belonged to Morales, who said they belong to Pomales-Martinez, according to court records.

Martinez-Sanchez was not charged.

Morales and Pomales-Martinez were each arraigned before District Judge Jacob Hammond on felony counts of drug possession with intent to deliver and conspiracy, in addition to misdemeanor drug possession and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Both were sent to Lehigh County Jail in lieu of $100,000, which Morales posted Thursday through a bondsman.

Both suspects face preliminary hearings tentatively scheduled March 1 before Hammond.
