In
Illinois
this month, two men who claim to identify as women won the gold and silver medals in the state
cyclocross
women’s championship race. It was the second time in the past two months that the cyclists have competed and won in events specifically designated for women.

And both times, a female cyclist who would have finished in one of the top two spots was left to collect bronze after being forced to compete against men who were much stronger and faster, regardless of how they might
identify

AOC CLAIMS YOUNG GIRLS WILL GET INVASIVE ‘EXAMINATIONS’ IF MEN’S AND WOMEN’S SPORTS ARE SEPARATED

It is blatantly unfair results such as these that the Left would like us to ignore. For example, during a congressional hearing last week on the topic of
transgender
participation in women’s
sports
, Democratic representatives repeatedly downplayed female concerns about competing against men by citing how few transgender athletes there really are. Rep.
Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez
(D-NY) claimed those who object to allowing men to insert themselves into female spaces and competitions are really just looking for a way to exclude further an already “marginalized” group, which makes up less than 1% of the population.

The better way to look at the matter is to ask why the other 99% of the country should be forced to give up their reasonable expectations of safety, privacy, and fairness for the sake of a fringe minority.

Of course, not even one girl should be forced to give up her right to equal competition to accommodate the delusions of a confused man. It does not matter what the two Illinois cyclists think they are — they are men, they will always be men, and nothing and no one can change that fact.

But because USA Cycling has tied itself in knots to avoid this simple truth, at least one of the cyclists, Evelyn Williamson, has picked up 18 first-place finishes against women over the past few years. The other male cyclist, Tessa Johnson, previously competed for Clemson University’s male cycling team. And every year these men are allowed to continue competing in women’s events, the number of women who will have been stripped of their rights will grow.

Congressional Democrats might say that pointing this truth out is “transphobic.” But as former NCAA swimmer Riley Gaines put in her testimony, denying it is misogynistic.
