Men's Track Turns In Great Performance at Ursinus

COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. - Eastern Men's Indoor Track & Field competed in its second meet ever Saturday at Ursinus College.

"Overall, I'm very pleased with the results from the day," said Head Coach Mike Wilson. "We have a very small team this first year, but we're already posting scoring efforts in meets and putting individuals on the podium."

On the men's side, Teni Oladeji had an incredible day for the Eagles. Teni finished 6th overall and qualified for the MAC Championships in the men's triple jump. "He [Teni] has incredible natural ability and still has plenty of room to grow in the event," said Jumping Coach Jess Fritsche. "With a little more time, Teni could be a national qualifier in the event."

Brandon Forino ran one of the best races of his career in the men's 3000m run. With two laps to go, he was in 3rd place and back about 40m. Forino outkicked both guys over the course of the final two laps to win his heat and post a personal best 9:44 in the event. Forino's time puts him within range of conferences. "I could not be more thrilled with Brandon's determination and effort today," said Wilson.

Clayton Bender and John Sanders both had great performances in the 800m. Both runners are within seconds of qualifying for the MAC Championships and look good in their first 800s of the season.

Alex Baldassarre had another solid day on the track in the men's 60m and 200m for Eastern.

"We had a great day and saw a lot of positive things today but certainly have some work to do," said Wilson.

Eastern compete in the Keogh Invitational at Haverford College on February 20th.
