Wind turbine maker C&F Green Energy is to add 145 new jobs over the next three years at its manufacturing plant in Athenry, County Galway.

A number of orders have already been placed with the company for the home, UK and European market.

The 145 jobs will be in the commercial manufacturing of new small wind turbines, designed to power farms, factories and residential dwellings.

Taoiseach Enda Kenny said Enterprise Ireland had made a significant investment in the company and was providing employment grants to support the new jobs.

C&F managing director John Flaherty said the products being manufactured would service a growing worldwide market in the renewable energy sector.

Enterprise Ireland chief Frank Ryan said Ireland was well-positioned to become a world leader in this industry.
