Box Score WICHITA FALLS, Texas (Nov. 11, 2017) – Midwestern State (Texas) rallied from a nine-point fourth quarter deficit to edge Oklahoma Christian 72-68 on Saturday night in the final game of the Ashbrook Classic at D.L. Ligon Coliseum.

OC (0-2) led Midwestern State (1-1) for more than 33 minutes but battled foul trouble throughout, with one player fouling out and three others finishing with four fouls. Meanwhile, Kristin Rydell scored all nine of her points in the fourth quarter and Whitney Taylor and Hannah Reynolds hit key baskets late for the Mustangs.

The Lady Eagles led 56-47 after a basket by Tyra Peck with 9:43 left, but three 3-pointers by Midwestern State – including two by Rydell – helped close the gap, and Chelcie Kizart hit two free throws with 4:53 left to give the Mustangs a 62-61 advantage, their first lead since the early minutes of the basketball game.

Freshman Maddison Collyer's layup with 4:40 left at the other end put OC back ahead, but Kizart answered with a layup 15 seconds later. The Mustangs never trailed again, using a 7-2 run to go ahead 71-65 on a basket by Reynolds at the 1:16 mark.

Addy Clift, who led OC with 26 points, hit a 3-pointer with :03 left to pull the Lady Eagles within 71-68 but Kizart went 1-of-2 from the line with one second left to seal the win for Midwestern State.

Clift was the only OC player to score in double figures. Freshman Katie Mayo added nine points for the Lady Eagles, who were outrebounded 45-39.

OC led by as many as 10 points in the first quarter before settling for a 22-15 advantage at the period's end and the Lady Eagles were up 36-29 at halftime, thanks to 19 first-half points from Clift.

Taylor scored 17 points to lead the Mustangs, while Micheline Mercelita finished with 15 points and 10 rebounds.

OC's home opener will be Tuesday at 5:30 p.m. against cross-Edmond rival Central Oklahoma.
