Inspired By: Lisbon
So I am currently sitting in the Houston airport, making my way back from a magical trip to the French and Italian Riviera. And while I cannot wait to share with you the amazing details from this trip, I am reminded of my last trip to Europe, and the inspirational people and places I encountered back in April. I had the absolute honor and privilege to travel to Lisbon, Portugal with the Leaders of Design Council. I cannot believe that it has taken me this long to blog about my trip to Lisbon... There are two things that unfailingly make me happy, traveling and talking business. And what an amazing collection of like minded people in such an amazing place! Perhaps there was just so much to take in and be inspired by that the thought of putting that into words and pictures was daunting,... I am not really sure. But what I do know is that there was something exotic yet very familiar about the place, and despite the grandness of much of it, it was the simple details that caught my eye (as you will see).
Lisbon actually felt very similar to Southern California, the smell of orange blossoms, stucco facades, beautiful tile work, and a sense of casual leisure that wafts through the air. But of course, there is the centuries of history and culture that influences and informs everything, as if time makes certain imperfections not only acceptable, but far more beautiful. What an important point of inspiration for my Southern California projects.
